Andrew Carpenter Land Ownership

The Table of Tracts of Land for 1886 had a journal entry stating Carpenter owned 1 acre with ½ Potomac. The value of the land was $50 and the total value of the land/buildings was $75. Also, the tax/land building costs were $22 and the tax land/building was $8. As for county free purposes, levied for county free taxes was $8 and the same for free school purposes. The amount of tax levied for county purposes was $16. The Land Assessment from 1900 is documented with Carpenter’s land with a total of 1.5 acres and the value of the land at $60.  The value on the land/building is at $45. As you can see, the value of his land slightly decreased over time. But as all the entries show Andrew Carpenter did own 1.5 acres and the estate was held in fee. The last piece of information shows his land is that it was in a record delinquent land book sold to the commonwealth of Virginia in the 1890s. So we can assume that his family didn’t inherit his land after that. The last time he showed up in the land tax records was 1900. After searching his land wasn’t in the books under his family name.
