Abstract
Wendy Ross was officially commissioned to create a 7 ½ ft statue by The George Mason Fund for the Arts-- The George Mason Fund for the Arts is an internal fund within GMU that is receives its income from patrons of the annual George Mason University Arts Gala. Furthermore, the article recognizes the donations of the Virginia Daughters of the American Revolution and smaller student groups. This article also acknowledges that the commission was as a response to years of student initiatives to create a statue of school’s namesake.
