- Description
- Poster created in 2026 by HRC intern Russell about the Williams vs. Centreville T-ball league case In April of 1973, seven-year-old Leslie R. Williams was told that she would no longer be welcome at the Centreville T-Ball league. After months of practicing and competing in her first game, the league president told her she would be unable to continue to play because of her sex. After several requests to remain in the league were rejected, Leslie, through her mother, sued the president for the right to remain in the league since they had paid the fee. It is unknown how Leslie’s case was resolved as it was settled out of court. However, Leslie’s legal fight is a example of a well-constructed case, even if it failed to become a nationally recognized case.
