Louisa Ferguson - Courtland H. Davis 1948 Land Deed
-
Description
-
This is the deed that shows the selling of Louisa Ferguson's Telegraph Road property to Courtland H. Davis. It was sold for $650 in 1948. The deed mentions Louisa's mother, Delia Clark, who owned the property before Louisa's inheritance. The deed mentions Delia as being a "free woman of color" since she was freed as early as 1829, which was very uncommon and had to be recorded.
