1890s photograph of Matilda Gibson Parker -- possibly the original "Ilda" -- in front of the blacksmith shop founded in 1868 by two formerly enslaved friends, Horace Gibson and Moses Parker, at mile 10 of the Little River Turnpike. Gibson's daughter, Matilda married Parker's son, Page, and together they ran the blacksmith business for several years following their fathers' deaths.
