Title
Mt. Gap Colored School. Built 1882.
Description
Mt. Gap Colored School was built in 1882. The school used only one room to serve Gleedsville and the surrounding communities since segregation permitted Black children from attending the original Mt. Gap School. The school closed its doors in 1953, but the National Trust for Historic Preservation recovered the building and land around 1973. The school grounds is still used for educational purposes throughout the year until this day.
